A few legitimate concerns have managed to emerge from all of this.

As for the question regarding Larnell’s backup dancer, we the producers do not allow backup singers or dancers. Anyone who does not follow this rule will be penalized.

We, as producers, do not “favor” any contestant over the other. Again, I would like to reiterate the fact that we do not vote nor judge during the competition. Over the summer friendships are made, and this enriches the experience for all involved.

Regarding the idea of others being on our advisory board: although the concept is good, the process is unmanageable. When an origination or company assembles a board of directors, they only include a small yet diverse group of people to represent the public. This is the most reasonable way to incorporate feedback on all issues. However, we encourage suggestions from the general public by sending an email to edgestarmedia@mac.com.

Last year each audience member received a feedback card at the finale and these comments included compliments as well as criticism; many of this years improvements resulted from those audience member suggestions. Another way the public can positively impact the show is by calling ‘Rising Stars! REPLAY’ on Thursday morning’s on WOMT Radio from 10:30 – 11:00. Already this year, several improvements have been made to the live radio broadcast, thanks to these callers; we also took callers advice when they suggested that we list the evening’s songs in the programs.

Jennifer, Debbie, and Steve, our three main judges, are all qualified and have many years of individual experience. Any theories that the judges votes will determine the winner are unfounded; actually, it often comes down to the just a few audience member votes to determine the contestant rank. The more often people chose to go out and vote, the less power the judges will have.

We would like to thank those individuals who bring legitimate concerns directly to us, as well as our many dedicated supporters.
