The Launch of a New Blog!

With the launch of the all new lakeshoresrisingstars.com, I have decided that now would be the best time to launch the all new Blog. My goal for the new Blog is to keep you - our fans updated with exclusive behind the scene information, important news including sponsor promotions and of course ... contests!

This week so far has been an extremely busy week for me here at the radio station. With Roncalli Jets heading to STATE tomorrow, most of my time has been focused on getting more advertisers for the live play-by-play coverage that WOMT's Brian Notron will be doing tomorrow morning beginning with the pre-game show at 8:30.

I also met with Federal Mogul in hopes of a possible sponsorship for SEASON TWO, however unfortunately they have decided not to commit to 2007. Hopefully for a possible season three, they will agree to be a part of the event.

Riley and I also met with Henri's Music yesterday in Green Bay to finalize a few aspects of their sponsorship and I have to tell you, the employees at Henri's Music are some of the nicest, most professional and educated employees I've ever dealt with at a music store. They have so much respect for their customers. Henri's Music will also be helping Riley and I expand our music library, giving our finalists a much larger selection of music to chose from. We also got a tour of Henri’s Encore Theater!' From the moment you step into the theatre, there's this electricity that comes over you. They have invested a lot of time and resources in making this theatre a top-of-the-line theatre for piano recitals and small concerts. Will there be a Rising Stars! performance at 'Henri's Encore Theatre!' ... only time will tell! (Do stop in and check it out. Then let us know what you think!)

In other exciting news, Amirah will making a guest appearance and performance at tomorrow night's Cooking Show, presented by the Herald Times Reporter at the Capitol Civic Centre. Tickets are still available for tomorrow's event so if you're interested, call or stop down to the Box Office right away tomorrow morning. (You might even hear the sound check if you listen closely!)

I was also informed today that Boelter's Jewelers will be giving a 10% discount coupon to everyone who votes at Boelter's this year! PLUS Boelter's will be giving away a pair of their VIP Corporate tickets to a Rising Stars! performance. Once I know more information about their 10% coupon and the ticket giveaway promotion, I will let post it on our Blog.

Another exciting project that I have started to work on this week is a new creative idea that I must thank Tim Strews for. It's a Rising Stars! weekly talkshow called "Rising Stars! Replay" which would air after each week's show on WOMT every Thursday afternoon from 1:30 - 2:00. 'Rising Stars! Replay' will broadcast all the latest news, behind the scenes thrills, pre-show nerves and more. Plus it will be an opportunity for you to call in with your thoughts about that week's performance, questions and general comments. The hope is also have a special guest on each week. (Maybe the finalist that got voted off that week ... maybe one of the finalists who are still in the run for $10,000.00 ... or maybe one of our friends from season one!) However, management does not even know about this idea so you are one of the first ones to know about it. We have a two committed sponsors for the program if the show takes off: The Stumpjack Coffee Company and Community First Credit Union. I will keep you posted on this progress. I would also like to send out a personal thanks to David Smith - the owner of the Stumpjack Coffee Company. David is our Web Designer and Business Manager for Rising Stars! and he has been working hard on the new lakeshoresrisingstars.com. If you remember out site for season one, you will be extremely impressed with the features and outlook of this year's site. He truly is a great guy ... and his coffee isn't bad either!

I also have to thank each member of our Board of Advisors. Each month our board meets to discuss new ideas and ways on how we can improve for this season. They are volunteered supporters of this event and truly help us out. We typically meet at the Manitowoc County Library but have recently moved to the Stumpjack. It's more of a casual, relaxing environment - kind of like our philosophy and mind set of Rising Stars! We love business, but we all love life more than anything and enjoy what life has to offer us.

One of the projects that our board is currently working on is finalizing our charities for 2007. Currently, we have selected the following organizations who we proudly support:
-Big Brothers / Big Sisters of Manitowoc County
-Autism Society on the Lakeshore
-Children's Hospital
-Project Hope
-Music Parents Association

We are looking for 4 more charities. If you would like to submit a charity, please send us an email. We're open to new ideas!

You also maybe aware that the Capitol Civic Centre's Executive Director, Mr. Gian Paul Morelli has announced that he has taken another position in Washington. We would like to wish Gian the best of luck along with the Capitol in finding a new director who has the passion for the arts.

Speaking of passion, I would like to invite you to Capitol Civic Centre on Easter Sunday for Hope Community Church's powerful and inspirational annual Easter Worship Service. If however you are unable to attend, WQTC - 102.3 FM will be broadcasting the service live on-air beginning at 9:00 AM.

Lastly, with our new Blog, I would like to upload more pictures with our posts, however, using I'm using a MacBook Pro and for some odd reason, Blogger (the blog service we use) is not capable with Mac computers. I was considering of a new blog service, but cannot find one that I like. Therefore, I'm hoping that Blooger fixes this problem soon as there are tons of pictures that have not been released that I believe you will enjoy! Please, be patient as I figure this out! (And no, I will never go back to a PC!)

I also mentioned before that our new Blog will have even more contests, and I intend to keep that. Within the next couple of weeks, you will be able to win a pair of FRONT ROW tickets to a Rising Stars! performance.
